David Concidine's Religious Artworks
David Concidine has created Mormon art, or LDS art--artwork inspired by the beliefs of the Latter-Day Saints.In the Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, the Pearl of Great Price, and Church History, the story of an amazing people is told--the story of a people that shouldn't have survived, but did. Not only have they survived, but they have spread throughout the earth, and they add to their numbers every day. How has this happened? They have been protected, preserved and prospered by the hand of the Lord--the only true and living God of the whole earth. Take for example, the curious story of Abraham, in the Book of Abraham. Here was a man who should have died upon an altar for human sacrifice in the land of Ur. But instead of dying by the priest's knife, God spared Abraham's life and smote the priest. And Abraham went on to live well past a hundred years, and he became the father of many children, from which came many nations. And Abraham came to a promised land, a land that was to be his inheritance. A most curious story. Not unlike the story of Moses and also the Israelites. These people ought to have remained and died in Egypt, at the hands of Egyptian oppressors. But instead, they were delivered out of Egypt by the power of God, by his plagues on the Egyptians, and by the parting and closing of the Red Sea.
And so on one reads these types of stories in the Bible, and the other modern works of scripture, valued by the Latter-day Saint people. There is one story after another of miracles, revelations, protection, preservation, and blessing happening to the people, and to their guides the prophets and apostles, and to the Lord Jesus Christ, in their times of need or according to God's will. What these things tell of, is of the power and blessings of God, of his wisdom and his goodness to those who will be his people and take upon them his name.
